Jan Hendrik Egberts, M.D. has been appointed chief executive officer of OctoPlus N.V. Dr. Egberts replaces Simon Sturge, who will leave the company January 1, 2011 to take a position with a top pharmaceutical company. Dr. Egberts will work with Mr. Sturge until the end of this year to ensure a smooth transition.

Dr. Egberts has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He worked for four years as a strategic consultant to life sciences companies at McKinsey & Co., and from 1994 onwards held business development and general management positions of increasing responsibility in the U.S. at Merck, Johnson & Johnson and Mölnlycke Health Care. He also served as chief executive officer of Novadel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and senior advisor in healthcare investments to private equity firm 3i Group.
